A double-blind, randomized, and controlled clinical trial# regarding the positive impact of plant-derived n-3 PUFAs on blood lipid level and gut microbiota has been published on Frontiers in Nutrition*, by Dr. Liu Hongjie from the School of Public Health, Huazhong University of Science and Technology. An abstract of the test results is detailed below:
In comparison with the control group (corn oil capsules), the plant-derived n-3 PUFAs (B-Stream Soft gel^) significantly reduced the total cholesterol (TC) levels of individuals with marginal hyperlipidemia, following a 12-week intervention (P<0.05). In addition, the triglyceride (TG) levels in the intervention group significantly decreased (P<0.05) after the intervention, as compared to the pre-intervention readings. The above results have indicated the effect of B-Stream Soft Gel in lowering the blood lipid level.
Previous studies have shown the importance of gut microbiota in regulating the metabolism of lipids. Hyperlipidemia is often accompanied by an increase in the ratio of Firmicutes to Bacteroidetes (F/B). F/B is an important indicator of intestinal homeostasis. This study further investigated the changes in gut microbiota under the intervention of B-Stream Soft Gel. After 12 weeks of intervention, A significant decrease in F/B value was recorded (P<0.05), which implies that B-Stream Soft Gel possibly regulates lipid metabolism by improving the intestinal homeostasis of individuals with marginal hyperlipidemia.
